Air travel has become so expensive that any financial relief is an excuse to write about it.
This morning, Southwest Airlines announced one of its premier sales of the year. If you’re looking to fly sometime late summer or into the fall — from Aug. 16 to Nov. 5, 2022 more specifically — then you can purchase a ticket for 40% off if you buy before this Thursday, June 9, at 11:59 p.m. CDT (that’s 9:59 p.m. in California).
The 40% promotion code savings is valid for one-way or round trips and is applied before government taxes and fees. The Southwest homepage currently has a large banner at the top where you can click through and have the promotion automatically applied, or you can enter the promotion code “FALL40” in the promo code box when booking your flight.
There are a couple of catches. This promotion code savings applies to the base fare only and it’s valid for select flights. You can view the list — which includes many major cities in the American West as well as Hawaii — by visiting this link.
In a statement, Bill Tierney, the airline’s vice president of marketing and digital experience, added that this discount also includes two free checked bags and no change or cancellation fees.
